Kato (Japan) is excited to announce the September 2026 Releases
● Item Introduction
The 923-3000 Series T5 trainset, better known as “Doctor Yellow,” is a Shinkansen inspection train used on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. Its distinctive yellow appearance has made it a favorite among railway fans and travelers.
With the T5 trainset scheduled to retire in January 2027, KATO commemorates this iconic Shinkansen with a new Special Edition 7-Car Set featuring the current “Thank You” logos.

119 Series 5000 Iida Line/ Kumoha 119 5100 Iida Line
● Item Introduction
The 119 Series was introduced in 1982 to replace older JNR trains on the Iida Line. Designed for the line’s short station spacing, steep gradients and long-distance services, the series was later upgraded with air conditioning, creating the 5000 and 5100 subseries.
After the transition to JR Central, the trains received the familiar white-and-orange JR Central livery, while a blue revival livery appeared in 2009. The series remained in service until 2012.
Operate the trains individually or combine them in formations such as 1+1, 1+2, 1+1+2 and 2+2 to recreate varied Iida Line operations.

Chizu Express HOT7000 “Super Hakuto” (w/ HOT7020) 6-Car Set
● Item Introduction
The “Super Hakuto” limited express connects Kyoto and Osaka with Tottori and Kurayoshi via the Chizu Express Line. Introduced in 1994, the HOT7000 Series is a tilting diesel multiple unit designed for flexible formations.
This new variation of KATO’s2021 release recreates a 6-car formation with two HOT7020 gangway cab cars, giving the train different cab designs at each end.
