These DD51 diesel locomotives were in service on the Seikan Tunnel Route, connecting Honshu with Hokkaido, and later adopted the “Hokutosei” limited express inspired livery. The fleet consisted of many car variations, like the 24 Series “Hokutosei” sleeping cars (release in April) and the OHa 25-500 series. While the 24 Series offered hotel-like service on the express line, the OHa 25-500 series with its star-themed exterior design was built as a lobby car for JR East.
