These dollies are typically used in intermodal yard work to shuttle trailers around the yard. They allow yard tractors to pull two or three trailers at a time, saving time along the way. They can occasionally been seen attached to trailers on flat cars and spine cars. Every intermodal yard will have a ready supply of these.
