Atlas' N scale locomotive is modeled after GE's B23-7 diesel engine with 2250 horsepower and a distinctive carbody. Identified by its wide radiator and power assembly access doors that are just forward of the step in the hood, the B23-7 was built starting in 1977 and is still in service today. The Atlas B23-7 features include a dual-flywheel-equipped five-pole skewed armature motor with a low friction mechanism, AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers and the following detail variations included as appropriate for each roadname:
