Missouri Pacific was a Class 1 railroad in the western United States, founded in 1872. In 1980, Union Pacific purchased MP, and many railcars still carry the MP reporting mark, as they operate for UP. Railbox was established as a free-running nationwide pool of general service boxcars to help alleviate box car supply problems.
