● Item Introduction

The 12 series passenger cars, manufactured from 1969 to 1978, are express seating cars capable of speeds up to 110 km/h. These cars served as the basis for the new type of passenger cars introduced from the 14th series onward. Initially used for special trains and transporting visitors to the Osaka Expo, they later served as regular express trains and were seen throughout Japan, except Hokkaido. Over time, these cars have been converted into commuter trains and what are known as 'Joyful Trains,' demonstrating their versatility. They continue to be used periodically for limited time events as passenger cars.

◆ This product is essential for enjoying the 10-1914/1915 Passenger Car Sets: Express "Sanbe" and Express "Kaimon-Nichinan," which are being released simultaneously. By combining these sets, you can recreate the classic overnight express trains.

◆ From this release onward, the intermediate connecting side of the Suhafu 12 will be modified to allow the installation of both Arnold couplers and knuckle couplers. As a result, the retail price and JAN code will change. There are no other changes in specifications compared to the previous model.

◆ Product features

・These models replicate cars that were operated in west Japan from around 1980.

・The 6-car set replicates the 0 series.

・The single Oha 12 replicates the later model, and the Suhafu 12 replicates the early model of the 100 series.

・The tail lights on the guard room side of the Suhafu 12/Oha 13 light up (with an on/off switch)

・The front ends of the guard room sides of the Suhafu 12 and Oha 13 in the 6-car set, as well as the single Suhafu 12, are equipped with body-mounted Arnold couplers. The intermediate coupling sections are equipped with close-coupled body- mounted couplers. The Suhafu 12 in the 6-car set and the single set come with replacement knuckle couplers.

・The front gangway frames on the guard room side of the Suhafu 12 and Oha 13 in the 6-car set, as well as the single Suhafu 12, are silver. Parts to replicate the front gangway are included and can be attached or removed as needed.

・Destination display stickers are included with the 6-car set and the single Suhafu 12, each with different content.

・The bookcase for the 6-car set can store all 12 series passenger cars and one locomotive for traction.
