Bethlehem Steel built this 50' steel, 14-panel gondola with fixed ends at Elkins, West Virginia in January 1967. It wasn't until December 1981 that the class GB gondola received this paint scheme of dark blue with Chessie yellow markings.

WM 58004 saw the ICC approval of the B&O and C&O bid to control Western Maryland in 1967, the incorporation of these three roads to create the Chessie System in 1973, and the formation of CSX in 1980 with Chessie's acquisition of Seaboard Coast Line.
