A scale model of the latest streamlined tour express train “Saphir Odoriko” will be released by Kato with the train's logo printed on its sides. "Saphir" is the French word for the blue jewel sapphire.


E261 “Saphir Odoriko” is a new sightseeing limited express, which debuted in March 2020 at the time of train schedule revisions under the new promotional slogan “Experience the real Izu!”


The body is painted with a gradated dark gray belt surrounding the windows on a glossy blue and white base symbolizing the clear sky and calm sea of Izu province. The train consists only of passenger cars of higher quality than 1st class cars, and a dining car called “noodle car”. The cars are installed with skylights. The seats are arranged spaciously and the compartments are roomy.
