CSX not only inherited these 14-Panel cars from the Chessie fleet. Several railroads in Seaboard System’s family tree also had them. This group came from Western Railway of Alabama and were re-numbered into the CSXT 996000 series. The new reporting marks in white rather than yellow was probably a function of the shop where the cars were re-numbered. Seaboard System shops often (but not always) used white for quick re-numbering jobs and yellow for full repaints. Like their ex-Chessie brethren, these CSXT ex-WofA cars tended to carry stone or discarded ties for their new owner. “Stone” loads are included on this run.
