Our 544 series family was born out of a need for shorter loads on 50 ft. flatcars. Technically, its a sub category of the 500 series loads. When unitized lumber was first introduced, railroads loaded lumber on the standard work flatcars with forklifts. The units were overlapped and cross banded as per A.A.R. specifications to minimize load shifting. Those railroads who shipped lumber started building in house bulkheads for their 50 ft. flat cars. Later, railcar manufactures made specialized flats with bulkhead  ends. An example of this was the GSC (General Service Commonwealth) 53ft flat cars manufactured a number of years ago. The length was increased for  the bulkheads over the standard 50ft work flats. Below are four variations of 44ft loads. All are three tier loads and are economically priced at $23.95.

N-Scale is where Details-N-Scale got its start. Uncovered lumber loads for 50' flatcars and the longer bulkhead type were produced for customers as they were not available in the hobby industry. Later when Micro Trains and Red Caboose produced the first and second generation center beam cars, we started producing uncovered lumber loads for those models.  The plan was not to have kits. Built up and READY TO  LOAD was our motto. Our focus was to make an accurate product of a unitized lumber load for a flat car. As time has progressed, we have added a variety of lumber and wood products to our product mix. Presently, we have related wood products as well as lighting products. 

In all cases, we use REAL wood for our lumber products to provide the best prototypical appearance  possible.

500 Series are 46ft loads designed for 50' flats and the larger General service commonwealth 53'6" work flats. Atlas®, Micro Trains® Lines, Walthers®, and Athearn® to name just a few. These loads fit the eras the 60's to the mid 80's, and as with all our loads, are ready to load to the flat car and are not kits to be built. Built in 3,4, or 5 tiers, prices are based on the labor of the load.

544 Series was created out of need for loads on 50ft flats with added bulkheads e.g. (Red Caboose 8' or 10' bulkhead ends kits). The length is 44 scale ft long.

600 Series loads fit Micro-Trains® # 54000 bulkhead flatcar . The load is a  standard 54ft  long that fits well between the bulkheads of the car. DTD 600- D4 is a tight 56' load to the exception of the standard length mentioned above. Formatted in 3,4,and 5 tier loads,  prices are based on the labor of the load. Shown above is our DTD 600 G4 Lumber Load.

652 Series is our new series that fit the Canadian bulkhead flat cars with inside measurements of 52 ft.8in clearance. This series is a sub series of the 600 bulkhead family. The page is now added.

700 Series 700 Series fits Micro-Trains® # 53000 Center beam Flat Cars. These models of loads 60 ft. long are split to fit on both sides of the car. There are 15 different configurations in 3, 4, and 5 tier loads. Some are full loads.

800 Series fits Red Caboose® 72' Centerbeam Lumber cars and have nine different load configurations. These loads are a 72 ft. scale length.
