This summer will mark the beginning of our newest series featuring 7 prototypical Baby Ruth freight cars from the 1920’s and early 30’s. This series will consist of six colorful billboard reefers and one tank car, all displaying elaborate ads for Baby Ruth which was owned then by Curtiss Candy Company. Baby Ruth was acquired by Nabisco in 1981 and Nabisco sold the Curtiss brands to Nestlé in 1990. N scale reefers will be released in 36’ or 40’ lengths with proper fishbelly or truss-rod underframes according to the original reefer.

This 36’ wood sheathed ice reefer with truss rods is owned by North American Despatch and was painted brown with yellow sides and ran on Bettendorf trucks. This colorful scheme had the typical Baby Ruth logo on the right with the Curtiss president’s signature. Several Curtiss candies are advertised on this car, including Butterfinger.
