Available On: June 1, 2015

Commissioned in 1752, the Liberty Bell was placed in the steeple of the Pennsylvania State House, a building known today as Independence Hall. The bell cracked on the fi rst ring, and was recast by local metalworkers John Pass and John Stow. After being recast it had nearly 90 years of use before the famous split appeared in the early 1840’s.

Beginning in the late 1800’s the city of Philadelphia allowed the Liberty Bell to travel by rail for display at expositions across the country. A special train was assembled by the Pennsylvania Railroad using Pullman heavyweight cars and a special fl at car on the rear to display the iconic bell.

The Liberty Bell train took seven journeys between 1885 and 1915 to New Orleans, Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, Boston, St. Louis and San Francisco.

This special historic set will include a heavyweight Baggage Car, a Coach and Observation Car and ends with a custom Flat Car and Bell.
