Ath SD40-2 CP "Expo 86" (SKU 140-8004)

Available at Athearn as of 6/6/05

In 1986 Vancouver, British Columbia was the host city for Expo ?86, the 1986 World?s Fair. CP Rail, one of the corporate sponsors of the Fair, commemorated the event by adding special paint to six SD40-2 locomotives. The ''colormark'' or ''pac-man'' logo on the rear of the units was replaced by a diagonal white stripe over the rear third of the unit. The red, yellow, and blue are related to a film shown at the fair called ''Color Wars.'' The film was about transportation in different societies around the world. The units wearing the special Expo 86 scheme were: 5610, 5614, 5647, 5698, 5748 and 5775. Our Ready-to-Roll model is of CP Rail SD40-2 5647, railroad class DRF-30j, built in December 1972 by EMD as their builder?s number 72657-19, one of a thirty unit order built by EMD for CP that year.
