Introduced in 1975, the EMD SD40-2 has gone on to serve as the workhorse of railroads large and small across North America. Used by virtually every Class I and II and by many shortlines, this locomotive has endured the test of time and asked for more. Many examples are still in service today.

This is a special one of a kind paint scheme created by Norfolk Southern for the 2014 NMRA contention in Cleveland, Ohio. Athearn gave some of these away as prizes, but now everyone can get one.
