Originally introduced in 1972, the EMD GP38-2 has become the most significant four axle locomotive model in recent years. The locomotive featured dash 2 modular electronics and a non-turbocharged 645E 16-cylinder diesel power plant that provided 2,000 horsepower. During its production life, over 2,200 of these units were produced. To promote public grade crossing awareness, C&NW applied Operation Lifesaver decals to several units, including GP38-2 #4606. This unique and striking locomotive will be fully assembled, including handrails.
