JB Hunt started in 1961 in Arkansas as a small local truck line. It started to sell it stock to the public in 1983 and wisely used the money to start its "Intermodal" operations. While many people think JB Hunt was bought by the Santa Fe, and now is part of the BNSF family, it is not. JB Hunt is still its own corporation and listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
