M/T 40' Box Car Single Door Erie Lack. 88033 (SKU 489-73030)
Number EL 88033 is painted box car red with white lettering. When the American Car and Foundry built this 40' standard box car with single door, full ladders, and without roofwalk, as part of a road series from 54000 to 54999, it was for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroad. When that road merged with Erie Railroad in 1960, the cars were renumbered from 88000 to 88264. In late 1973 and early 1974 they were fitted with plastic linings making them Class ''A'' cars capable of handling food. Most of the cars then hauled bagged flour.
