This 40’ general service drop bottom gondola is painted black with white herald and lettering. It was built in November 1936 by Pressed Steel Car Company, serviced in 1964, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. These tough little drop bottom cars were more versatile than the open hoppers or solid bottom gondolas also owned by the railroad and continued to be seen well into the 1970s, even after the merger into Burlington Northern. This car comes complete with gravel load.
