P2K SD60M 2-Window Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) #9290 "Heritage 2" scheme (SKU 920-30174)

EMD'S SD60M - Prototype History
The SD60, powered by a 16-cylinder engine and intended for heavy-duty drag operation, incorporated a number of improvements over the 50 series such as fuel efficiency, additional radiator capacity and two-speed cooling fans. But the most revolutionary improvement was the use of three separate microcomputers. The computer age had fanally influenced locomotive design as these microcomputers now controlled engine speed, fuel economy functions and interactive troubleshooting. The SD60M introduced EMD's wide safety cab. It was first produced with a three-piece windshield and later was re-designed with a two-piece windshield, Four hundred sixty SD60Ms were produced: 100 for Burlington Northern, 74 for Conrail, 5 for SOO Line and 281 for UP. Most are still in use today. This PROTO 2000 model comes with the largest, most comprehensive consumer applied detail parts package ever offered: a winterization hatch with see-through screening, cab sunshades, cab side window wind deflectors, ditch lights with lenses, snowplows, large and small beacons and three types of antennae: radio, firecracher and end-of-train device.
