This Great Northern box car with plug door bears the GN tri-colored herald and Rocky pointing to the label ‘Cushioned Ride’, a new lettering scheme representing GN’s innovative underframe that was developed in 1962. The car was built in April 1964 by American Car & Foundry and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Between 1961 and 1967, Great Northern painted most newly refitted and rebuilt box cars Glacier Green, a shade of light green similar to the color of the glacial melt water of the Rocky Mountains, through which the GN passes.
