Canadian Pacific ES44AC #8939 is a special locomotive, honoring the Lord Strathcona's Horse Royal Canadian Armoured Regiment of the Canadian Forces. It is a one of a kind locomotive and now it will be a one of a kind model.

The Lord Strathcona's Horse Royal Canadian Armoured Regiment of the Canadian Forces is a well known and respected unit based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was one of the last units to be created and raised by a private individual for the service of the crown. Lord Strathcona organized the unit to serve in the Boer War at the begining of the 20th century. It has gone on to serve bravely and hornorably over the years and was the first NATO unit to deploy armour in the Afghanistan.

As this unit is based in the home provice of Canadian Pacific, it seems only fitting that Canadian Pacific would honor it with a special locomotive featuring their unit crest on the cab. With many veterans in the immediate area, this locomotive is not only a unique salute to those who protect our freedoms, but also a link between CP employees who have served and those who serve now.
