Duluth South Shore & Atlantic offset side hoppers. The DSS&A ran from Duluth and Superior east down the length of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to the Canadian gateway of Sault Ste. Marie. In 1955, DSS&A purchased this group of secondhand hoppers from the Lackawanna. The cars were repainted and pressed into service hauling gravel. The DSS&A had been under stock control of Canadian Pacific since the 19th Century. In 1961, the DSS&A was merged with the Minneapolis St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie (the original Soo Line) and their longtime subsidiary Wisconsin Central (both also
controlled by Canadian Pacific.) The new combined company became Soo Line Railroad although the new company was actually formed around DSS&A’s corporate charter. These cars then mixed into the greater Soo hopper fleet. This run will
be available in 3 road numbers
