During 1945, Havelock built its first all steel hoppers. These were designated as HT-5B and numbered into the larger #188000-189999 series. In March of 1959, 250 of these hoppers were serviced and repainted into CB&Q’s new “Chinese Red” paint. They were numbered into the smaller series #189000-189649 and remained in their red paint scheme into the mid-eighties. This paint scheme had its debut in 1958.These cars come with coal loads.
