This locomotive was one of EMD's very popular early yard goats. Built between 1950 and1954, it features a 567B prime mover rated at 800 horsepower. Over 360 were built during this short production run. In 1954, EMD rolled out its new 1200-horsepower 567C prime mover and updated versions of this type of locomotive went into production. Though they were only made for a few years, these locomotives have gone on to long careers with both original owners and subsequent railroad and industrial owners.
