This 39’ single dome tank car is painted black with white herald and lettering. It built in November 1942 by General American Tank Car, serviced in July 1970, and ran on Bettendorf trucks. The ‘S’ in the white diamond on the dome indicates these tank cars are assigned to shipping liquid sugar; but as years went by, cars from this series found themselves carrying other loads, such as diesel fuel or oil while still retaining the original dome marking.
