 This 60’ Thrall Centerbeam flat car is painted yellow with red logo and black and red lettering. It was built in March 1977 by thrall Car Company and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Major production of Thrall’s 60’ loading length Centerbeam bulkhead flat car began in 1977 with orders from Burlington Northern, Milwaukee Road, Union Pacific and Western Pacific. One of the primary purposes of this design was to facilitate faster lading and unlading of lumber products. Previously, lumber was generally shipped in box cars, bulkhead flat cars, straight deck flat cars and sometimes gondolas.
