The EMD SW9 was built between 1950 and 1953 and utilizes a 1200 horsepower 567B prime mover. More than 800 copies of this locomotive were made and many railroads and industries across North America have either bought units new or used. This “yard goat” switcher has gone on to serve for more 60 years and counting, with units continuing is service today.
