The scene is prior to 1951 when streetcars last used the bridge. The daily midday passenger train has departed the former downtown station on the first leg of its journey to Calgary. Streetcar 42, still running at Fort Edmonton Park, is northbound along the near edge of the bridge so its doors will open onto the bridge deck in case of emergency. Vehicle traffic on the lower deck was two way at the time.
