Banman Publishing - Max Jacquiard Painting - "Meeting at Arrowhead" (Image Size 31" x 24" - Signed & Numbered) (SKU 604-MAH-3224SN)

During the first half of the 20th century, the Canadian Pacific Railway operated a steamboat-railway connection between Revelstoke on the railway's mainline and Robson West (near Castlegar) on its Kettle Valley route some 500 miles to the south. The sternwheeler Minto was launched at Nakusp in 1898 and travelled the length of the Arrow Lakes for the next 56 years, carrying passengers and freight. In a late 1940's scene, the ship approaches the dock at the northern terminus of Arrowhead where she is met by the bi-weekly train from Revelstoke, 28 miles to the north. The tug and barge on the left will pull alongside the Minto at the dock to transfer a vehicle to the ship. The location is now partly submerged due to the raising of the level of the lake by dam construction.
