General Service Drop Bottom Gondolas were used to carry many bulk dry products, such as coal, gravel and scrap. Besides their use in paid service, they were often part of work trains where they carried the varied necessities of the job at hand. Several variations of this car existed and included both plywood/steel composites and steel versions in standard height and extended height. These cars were often seen in large strings traveling together.
