This 83’ lightweight smoothside passenger coach car is painted aluminum with black logo and lettering. It was built in 1942 by Pullman Standard for the Rock Island and Southern Pacific service on the Golden State Limited. This car runs on four-wheel passenger trucks. The Rock Island cars originally carried Pullman series numbers and were replaced with the RI series numbers in 1947. The Rock Island acquired the cars when the Pullman monopoly on ‘sleeping service’ was ended.
