These 50’ rib side box cars with plug doors and no roofwalks are painted brown with aluminum doors. Built in September 1965 by Pullman-Standard in Bessemer, AL, they bear white ‘Southern’ heralds and white lettering. They’re equipped with Pullman’s Hydroframe-60 cushioning and run on roller bearing trucks. Southern Railway is the product of nearly 150 predecessor lines that were combined, reorganized and recombined since the 1830s. Southern and its predecessors were responsible for many firsts in the industry, earning the company its catch phrase, “The Railway System that Gives a Green Light to Innovations.”
