With traffic growing by leaps and bounds on California’s statesupported intercity trains, Amtrak California, the joint Amtrak- California Department of Transportation passenger rail agency, leased a small fleet of Superliner I coaches to add capacity on the state-supported trains. The cars are compatible with the double-deck California and Surfliner equipment.
To keep the trains looking good, Amtrak California repainted the Superliner I cars in two schemes to match its own cars and locomotives.
