This center cupola steel caboose is painted dark blue with yellow logo and lettering. It was built in July 1937, rebuilt in February 1969 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. In 1969 and 1970, # 3559 was part of the first group of 75 units to be rebuilt in C&O’s caboose rebuilding program. They were rebuilt, repainted into the blue scheme and renumbered into series 3500-3574.
