This 40' double-sheathed wood reefer with vertical brake wheel is box car red with yellow sides, bright black and red logo, black lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Wood reefers have attracted much interest due to their bright color schemes. The painted reefer sides were called ?billboards? because the size was equal to or larger than most roadside billboards. These traveling two sided billboards could be seen by millions across the whole country and were popular for hundreds of companies and products. In 1930, reefers reached their peak with 181,000 in service. Meat reefers such as KPCX 205 were outfitted with special meat rails for handling sides of meat. Most meat reefers were owned or leased by meat packers.
