Some quick notes:
When Southern Pacific introduced their San Joaquin Daylight Trains Nos. 51 and 52‡, they required additional baggage cars to 'pinch hit' when the normally assigned baggage-chair cars are in need of repair. SP No. 6029 was one of the two Daylight painted 60-ft Harriman baggage cars so assigned. This baggage car was class 60-B-8, an ACF product of 1918 and was equipped with Utility roof vents. Prior to 1926, it was leased to SPdeM as No. 2516 before returning to SP. This model is from late 1946 to end of life in early 1960s. It was never repainted gray. During periods when not assigned to the SJ Daylights, these substitute baggage cars were used in other train service such as the Owl, and the Coast Mail.

‡ SP's premier passenger train from the Oakland Pier to LA Union Pasenger Terminal via the San Joaquin valley and the Tehachapi Pass.
