These GP-35 powered locomotives are painted red and yellow with black roof, red stripe and yellow lettering. SP 6533 was built as part of EMD order number 7695 for the Southern Pacific railroad in 1964; ATSF 2858 was built as part of EMD order number 7786-9 for the ATSF railroad in 1965 and originally wore the number 1358. They both wear SPSF merger paint scheme commonly called Kodachrome. In the early 1980s, locomotives from both the SP & ATSF were painted in this paintscheme in anticipation of a merger between Southern Pacific and Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe. In 1985 the ICC denied the merger and the railroads began returning the locos to their standard paint.
