This GP-9 locomotive was painted blue with red ends, blue sides with white handrails. Its logos and lettering are white. Built in 1956 and 1957 by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors, this loco was originally numbered CV 4557. An EMD GP-9 is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by EMD between January 1954 and August 1963. Power was provided by an EMD 567C 16-cylinder engine which generated 1,750 horsepower. Many rebuilt GP-9s remain in service today with shortline railroads and industrial operators. Some remain in rebuilt form on some major Class I railroads, or as switcher locomotives.
