Kato Japan - N Scale - EF58 #61 Royal Electric Locomotive (SKU 3811-3038)

Owned by JR East and based at Tabata Depot in Tōkyō, this locomotive was built in 1953 by Hitachi especially for use as the official Imperial Train locomotive, a role it performs to the present day.

While other locomotives had chrome-plated "whiskers" on the cab ends, this loco was built with stainless steel whiskers extending as a thin band along the body sides.

EF58 #61 remains in its original brown livery, and is maintained in immaculate condition, pulling anniversary and other special train consists.

In 1988, the world famous "Orient Express" made its way to Japan, whereupon it was pulled by EF58 #61.
The Kato N EF58 #61 model includes optional parts to decorate this locomotive in the '88 specific livery it wore while it pulled this famous train.
