This 40’ box car with plug door and no roofwalk is car # 20 of a 44 car series representing each of the presidents of the United States. It bears the portrait of our 21st president, Chester A. Arthur. The car comes with a commemorative pin replicated from this era. As Vice President, Arthur took office after James Garfield was assassinated. A champion of civil service reform, Arthur succeeded in the passing of the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act. This was his primary achievement as President.
