This three-bay covered hopper with elongated hatches is painted dark grey with white lettering. It was built in December 1996 and runs on roller bearing trucks. It was built in Canada by National Steel Car of Hamilton, Ontario. Illinois Central is a partner of Canadian National; by lettering the cars for an American railroad, it allowed CN to avoid Canadian sales taxes.
