The E233 is a commuter Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) introduced by East Japan Railway Company in December 2006. The E233 series provides for better accessibility for the disabled, and is designed to be more comfortable to ride overall than conventional stock. These commuter cars normally run in 4, 6, or 10 unit configurations, have a maximum speed of 120 km/hr, and offer short distance commuter service on the Chuo Main Line between Tokyo and Nagoya, the Keihin-Tohoku, and Negishi lines.
