Boswer started from scratch with this model. It is not a altered U.S. EMD SD40-2, but a prototypically accurate Canadian GMD SD40-2 complete with many prototypically correct road specific detail. 11 different body versions are being produced. The first release will include road numbers in twelve schemes. Check out some of the production samples below and see preproduction test samples HERE & HERE.
The first release of these locomotives is expected in February 2016. Many are nearly sold out. Modelers who have been thinking about ordering any of these, or who want to order more should do so now.

The EMD SD40-2 locomotive is one of the most versatile and successful locomotives of all time. From 1972 to 1989, nearly 4000 were built for both the North American market and export. Powered by a 16 cylinder 3000 horsepower turbocharged 645 prime mover, these locomotives have a well-deserved reputation for reliability and dependability.
Many Canadian railroads ordered these locomotives. These were built by EMD's Canadian subsidiary, GMD in London, Ontario. While of the same basic design, there were many differences in the Canadian version of the SD40-2 to meet the needs of Canadian railroads. Nearly 700 were built and most remain in service today either with their original owners, or with new owners in both the United States and Canada.
