The PS 5344 Boxcar was introduced by Pullman-Standard in 1977, and went on to be very successful with almost 7000 built. The PS 5344 also represents the end of an era, with Pullman-Standard existing the railcar business in 1981. These cars have been operated by many railroads, large and small and continue on in service with many railroads and private operators today.
