PLEASE NOTE: Athearn has notified us that the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Genesis HO Scale GP9's are en route now and should arrive at our United States warehouse in a few days. Athearn has also informed us "they have maybe 1 or 2 left" of most these locomotives. PWRS also only has 1 or 2 left of most road numbers. Modelers who have not ordered, or wish to order additional units should do so now.
Athearn is not producing extra inventory for the shelf, only enough to cover reservations and warranty work. Most Athearn items are now sold out before being released. We will be marking some of these sold out as the orders come in.
Hobbycraft Canada (Lifelike Canada) made GP9's years ago, but not to this quality of detail and not with sound.

From 1954 to 1963, more than 4000 of these locomotives were built and used by many railroads. Equipped with an EMD 567C 16 cylinder prime mover, these four axle workhorses have gone on to serve all over North America and beyond. They proved so sturdy, that some were later converted to GP15C's. Today, many examples of this locomotive remain in use with their second, third, fourth and beyond owners
To meet the challenging conditions of their operating environment, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific often added features which made their locomotives stand-out from their south-of-the-border counterparts. Unique details include Canadian-style winterization hatches and slotted cab steps; CN “muffler” spark arrestors; CN and CP freight units with end handrails bent inward; CP passenger versions with barrel headlight and rooftop air reservoirs with full piping and cooling coil; and more.
