The New Haven I-4 Class steam locomotives were a special version of a Pacific locomotive with changes made to accommodate the demands of the railroad. There were 50 built in 1916 by ALCo. They had successful careers hauling passenger trains and underwent several modifications to improve their operations during their service life.
Broadway Limited has done a lot of research to build the most accurate models. In this case, the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Association has been very involved in the development of this project to ensure the highest degree of accuracy possible.
