Soundtraxx Announces Tsunami DCC Decoder For Atlas Trainman Plus GenSet Locomotives

Got Sound?

Since the Atlas Trainman Plus GenSet was released, there has been a demand for a high quality, accurate DCC w/Sound decoder. It has been a longer wait than most anticipated, but the wait is now over as SoundTraxx is releasing a GenSet Tsunami decoder.

The GenSet decoder is available in the TSU-AT1000 board format for easy installations into Atlas HO GenSet models.SoundTrax recorded this decoder’s sounds directly from the Cummins QSK19C prime movers of the NRE 3GS-21B Locomotive. NRE released the prototype in 2007 using Generator Set, or GenSet, technology with multiple prime movers that are switched on and off as needed for power. This setup results in significant fuel savings and emission reductions.

With individual sound channels for the three prime movers, the GenSet decoder allows each engine to have its prototypically correct RPM setting through eight throttle notches. Furthermore, an internal timer shuts off the prime movers incrementally as they “cool down” – just like the prototype!

Along with a 16-bit digital sound processor and built-in effects, the TSU-AT1000 includes functions for lighting features and advanced motor control. Sounds include engine start up and shut down, eight throttle notch settings, 16 airhorns, and an electronic bell.
