UP "Slab-Side" Turbine #'s 51-60

This locomotive was a surprise announcement at the 2008 NMRA National Train Show. It is a Genesis Model due in 2009. There were several variations by road number as delivered and over time. Athearn said they will do several variations . It has a heavy cast chassis and will be available with and without DCC & Sound. As you can see in the picture, only the two innermost trucks are powered. According to the Athearn spokesman this is the final cofiguration and he stated the traction would be sufficient. The level of detail is excellent and the painting and printing should be up to Athearn's excellent standards. The oil tender is included.

SP MT-4 Steam Engine

This was another Genesis locomotive displayed in the Athearn Booth. As you can see, the level of detail on this is great as well. There was a separate plastic Skyline hood shown as well. This is due late 2008 and will also be available with and without DCC & Sound.
