Athearn is applying the 10 ES44AC Norfolk Southern Heritage paint schemes to their AC440 model. While this is not the correct prototype locomotive, Athearn wanted to be able to offer these schemes to their customers. For those looking for the exact locomotives, Overland Brass is offering all of the Norfolk Southern heritage schemes.

As many modelers are aware, Athearn does have ES44 tooling from for the early runs of this locomotive. Athearn does plan to announce their plans for this tooling in the near future, but has not at this point determined their plans for later production runs of this locomotive, as their have been substantial changes to the prototype.
