July 9, Sacramento, California, NMRA National Model Train Show – North American Railcar received an e-mail from the Government of Saskatchewan a few weeks ago regarding new paint schemes coming for their 4550 cu ft Hawker Siddeley Grain Cars.

Since the original group of 120 cars were painted by the Saskatchewan Grain Car Corporation (SGCC) 3 years ago, there has been a change in governing parties. The current Government of Saskatchewan has began the process of painting the second batch of cars.

The graphics scheme on the cars  has been altered to reflect the visions of the current administration. As shown in the above illustration, the exclamation mark "!" has been removed.

As we relay release this information, the first group of cars are being painted and prepped at the Saskatchewan shops for release by the SGCC into Revenue Service. The first group of cars will be Canadian Pacific assigned cars with SKPX reporting marks. Canadian National assigned cars with SKNX reporting marks will follow.

While these cars are assigned Canadian Pacific or Canadian National road numbers, this is for car maintenance purposes only. The cars can be seen regularly throughout North America on all the Class I Roads. Canada is a major grain exporter and customers have reported seeing these cars in many locations including southern California, Florida, and even Mexico.

We will publish images of the prototype cars when they are finished at the shops. Since the cars have not been released, road numbers  are not listed, but will be added when available.

This release will feature 12 Canadian National assigned and 12 Canadian Pacific assigned road numbers. As with all North American Railcar products, these numbers have been carefully researched to ensure accuracy and will not be repeated. Final cost for these cars has not been determined yet, they are expected to be competitively priced and in line with previous release. Delivery of these cars is planned for March of 2012.

All models feature:

• Fully researched and prototypically accurate details
• Official Government of Saskatchewan schemes available exclusively from North American Railcar through Pacific Western Rail Systems
  
• Many separately applied detail parts, including photo etched brass and lost was castings
• Kadee or Micro-Trains couplers, per scale
• Properly weighted for smooth tracking and superior performance
• High performance trucks and wheelsets for reliable operation

A word of note to our many customers: Please order the number of cars you want before pre orders close. This is a reservation only product, we will only make enough cars to cover all orders, plus a small amount for warranty requests.
